Insulate Your floors Efficiently
Our EcoTec Floor-Foam Insulation Kit has been designed to insulate on top of Wooden or Concrete floors, before installing either Carpet, Laminate, Vinyl, or Wood.
This product has been designed so it is easy to install, for those who do not wish to remove floorboards but wish to retain heat in the winter / reflect away excess heat in the summer.
How Does EcoTec Floor Foam Work?
This is the most popular multifoil insulation for floors on the market. EcoTec Floor-Foam is just 4mm thick, yet it effectively reflects away unwanted cold and reflects heat back in.
It is made up of dense foam insulating membrane, which helps stop drafts from entering from below. The membrane is sandwiches between two layers of reflective foil, for added thermal benefits. When installed, it also acts as a high-performing Vapour Control Layer (VCL).
What’s Included?
- The EcoTec Floor Foam Insulation roll is 1.2m x 25m roll, so provides 30m² worth of coverage.
- We also now supply a ‘top up’ roll that is 1.2 x 4.8m, providing 5.76m² worth of coverage – perfect for smaller rooms.
- Both EcoTec Floor Foam Kits arrive complete with a free roll of ThermaSeal Foil Joining Tape – to seal the perimeter and all butts joints.
How do I install EcoTec Floor Foam?
If you have a wooden floor – we recommend using our Heavy Duty Staple Gun Kit. (which includes 5,000 Staples) to fix the EcoTec Floor-Foam down.
If you are installing EcoTec Floor-Foam onto Concrete Floors we recommend using Thermaseal Double Sided Tape or Non Solvent adhesive, to secure the floor insulation in to place.

EcoTec FloorFoam - How to Insulate under Carpet, Laminate & Wooden Floors
How To Insulate Under Carpets Laminate or Vinyl using EcoTec Floor-Foam
-
Roll out EcoTec Floor-Foam
Starting at one end of the room, roll out the Ecotec FloorFoam to the desired length. We recommend starting in one corner.
-
Cutting the Insulation
When you have reached the desired length, simply cut the EcoTec Floor Foam, with a sharp Knife / Scissors. You can also make a slit in the material for radiator pipes too.
-
Fix the EcoTec Floor-Foam
Then either Staple / Glue / Use Double Sided Tape, to fix the EcoTec Floor-Foam into place. You can also trim any edges as this point to ensure the floor foam is sat comfortably. If using a Glue we recommend to use a Non-Solvent adhesive, as solvents may effect the Foils.
-
Proceed with the Next Layer
Install the next run of EcoTec Floor-Foam and butt the edges. Do not overlap as this will make the floor uneven in places.
-
Tape and Seal Insulation
When the whole floor has been covered with the EcoTec Floor-Foam we recommend to tape and seal the butt joints and across the whole perimeter to ensure a complete seal. This will prevent moisture from rising and also prevent drafts.
-
Laying Carpet?
Fix grippers in to place, over the EcoTec Floor-Foam. This will not impact the performance of the productl. Proceed to install your carpet underlay and cut in to place directly on top of the Floor Foam.
How to Insulate Above a Timber Floor
-
Roll out the EcoTec Floor Foam
Roll the EcoTec Floor Foam out on to your timber floor. This can be rolled either vertically or horizontally, whatever your preference is!
-
Cut the EcoTec Floor Foam
You can then cut the EcoTec Floor Foam, when you arrive at the end of your run. You can either with our Multifoil Scissors or a Cutting Knife (both of these products are included in our Multifoil Fitting Kit). Keep insulating in strips until the full floor area you wish to insulate is covered. You can also make little cuts where the radiator pipes etc. are if required - just try and ensure you have a continous layer where possible.
-
Staple the EcoTec Floor Foam
Once cut to size, you can then Staple EcoTec FloorFoam on your timber floor, we advising leaving around a 30cm gap between each staple to ensure the material is secure.
-
Tape with the Thermaseal Foil Joining Tape
Ensure FloorFoam Insulation is butt jointed together by this we mean, so not overlap so you have a double layer at any point. Then, use the Thermaseal Foil Joining Tape, that is provided alongside the EcoTec Floor Foam, to seal all around the edges (peremiter) and the joints. The Thermaseal Foil Joining Tape used to do this is provided within the kit. Taping and sealing ensures no draught or moisture can rise up through the floor.
-
Install Desired Flooring
Finally, once installed and fully taped and sealed and secure - you can now proceed to install your desired flooring. If carpet is installed, the use of an underlay is advised prior to the carpet. Laminate or wood floors can be installed directly on top of FloorFoam. If a vinyl or lino is being used, we would advise the use of a plywood over the top of the FloorFoam.
How to Insulate a Concrete Floor
-
Rolling out FloorFoam
Start by rolling out FloorFoam Insulation either vertically or horizontally on the concrete floor. EcoTec FloorFoam can then easily be cut by using Multifoil Scissors or a Cutting Knife - Both available in our Fitting Kit.
-
Fixing Down FloorFoam
FloorFoam is fixed onto concrete floors by using Thermaseal Double Sided Tape, or Non-Solvent Glue. Ensure FloorFoam Insulation is fully taped and sealed on butt joints on the floor. Also tape FloorFoam around the perimeter.(Thermaseal Foil Tape is provided free of charge in kit). Taping and sealing ensures no draught or moisture can rise up through the floor.
-
Install Preferred Final Flooring
Once your concrete floor has been covered with FloorFoam, next you can install your desired flooring. Wood & laminate flooring can be installed directly on top of FloorFoam. We recommend to use a carpet underlay prior to a carpet being installed. If a vinyl or lino is being used, we would advise the use of a plywood over the top of the FloorFoam.
