Multifoils Direct’s Timber Frame Multifoil Insulation Kit has been designed to achieve a variety of U-values. It achieves these in less Cost, Space and Labour time – compared to traditional insulation solutions such as Kingspan, and Mineral Fibres.
What are the benefits?
The exclusive Timber Frame Insulation package contains YBS SuperQuilt, which is a 2-in-1 insulating Vapour Control Layer. This results in providing insulation properties and removes the requirement for an additional Vapour Control Layer.
This Timber Frame Multifoil Insulation packaging, also includes YBS BreatherFoil FR, which is a 2-in-1 insulation breather venting membrane.
BreatherFoil FR and SuperQuilt’s properties mean that ultimately, you reduce the cost per m² even further – you are getting more for your money!
This solution also often enables you to achieve building regulations, in both new build and refurbishment projects, depending on level of insulation required.

Installation Instructions
We would recommend fixing SuperQuilt on the internal face of the timber frame stud. Once SuperQuilt is fitted, we would recommend to fully tape and seal. Then generally the next steps is to fix a timber batten then plasterboard finish.
BreatherFoil FR is to be fixed on the external, by stapling directly to the OSB or Plywood timber board.

What is SuperQuilt made from?
SuperQuilt is a 40mm multifoil with 19 itch-free layers. It is a multi-layered blanket which has true aluminium foils as the outer layers. SuperQuilt's other 17 layers consist of recycled waddings, PE foams and metalized plastic foils.
What U-value does SuperQuilt and BreatherFoil achieve?
1 Layer of SuperQuilt and 1 Layer of BreatherFoil would achieve a U-value of 0.26. 2 Layers of SuperQuilt and 1 Layer of BreatherFoil FR would generally achieve a 0.17 U-value.
Do I need a vapour barrier with SuperQuilt
SuperQuilt works as a high performance 2-in-1 Vapour Control Layer. No additional VCL is required.
How could I improve the U-value?
You could consider adding additional insulation between the timber frame stud, such as EcoLoft Non Itch, PIR Insulation or a fibre.
